I passed away peacefully on December 12th at the young age of 83 surrounded by my loving family. My strong will, determination and German temper served me well throughout my life.

I really want to thank my family for being there during my illness. I want them to know just how much I appreciated all they did for me. They were with me round the clock! I so appreciated all of their kind words of reassurance. It was so comforting having them with me, holding my hand, making me smile, playing my favorite music and showering me with lots of love! This made my journey from earth to the other side so very peaceful.

My pain is gone! But it pales in comparison to watching my wife and kids feel my pain as they lovingly cared for me.

I want to let everyone know that I went directly to heaven! Our dog Tiki was the first one to greet me at the pearly gates. Then it seemed like I knew everyone! All of my family members and friends that passed were there too. I should let you know that that polka song "In Heaven There Is No Beer" is a fat lie. It flows freely, is ice cold and there is a salt shaker and can of tomato juice nearby.

I think I lived a pretty darn good life. I was a tough man with a gentle heart and a generous nature. I was an ornery child, a tough marine, the very best investigator with the CFTC, a loving husband, dad and grandpa, a hard working man and a loyal friend. I loved life, my family and friends, polka dancing, vacationing with the family in Galena, my church and bird watching. Yes I was blessed!

One of my proudest moments was getting my college degree. I did so while raising a family of 4 with my wife.

My greatest achievement was finding the love of my life... My Mary! Getting this girl of my dreams to marry me was also a huge and beautiful achievement.

One of my greatest accomplishments was having and raising 4 of the most awesome children one could hope for.

Just when I felt I was too old to fall in love again, I became a grandpa and my 7 grand angels stole my heart!

Yes! I cherish my family!

You may cry that I am gone, but don't cry too much! Instead, be happy I was here and celebrate my life. And don't forget me. That's all I want.

And, in the end, remember: Always do your best, be honest, work hard and enjoy, enjoy the family!

Luv you all!

Our Ed Wasinger will be fondly remembered and greatly missed!
