Born September 19, 1895, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Lula Greer Anthony. He was born and reared in Water Valley, but had lived in Whitehaven for the past six years, where he was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Hall Anthony; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Chrestman of Memphis; five sons, James, Gene and Russell Anthony of Memphis, Billy Joe Anthony of Baton Rouge and Robert Anthony with the U.S. army at Fort Ord, California; a sister, Mrs. Jessie White of Water Valley; four brothers, Willie and Jack Anthony of Water Valley; Arthur Anthony of Memphis and John Anthony of Washington, D.C.; and 13 grandchildren.
