Ken was born on May 16, 1954 in Mora. MN to Walfred and Mildred (Amberg) Matson of Finlayson, MN. In 3rd grade the family moved to the Friesland road. He graduated from Sandstone High School and attended Dunwoody Institute earning a degree in architectural design.

In January of 1975 in Lake Norden SD, he married Linda Seppanen. While starting a family they moved to many different places. Throughout the years, most of his life he worked for numerous steel fabrication businesses and then started over-the-road truck driving.

What he enjoyed the most was going to church, reading the bible, arguing politics, visiting with his kids, grandkids, family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church.

He was passionate about all aspects of trains. He would wait by the tracks for hours for a train to arrive. He enjoyed putting models together and taking trips to see new and different places. He always had his camera to take pictures along the way.

He was blessed with a kidney transplant about 5 ½ years ago which gave him so many more memories that he was able to share with all that he loved and cared about.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Baby Boy Matson, brother Rick, sister Yvonne Beltran, grandchildren Micah, Caitlin & Cameron Matson.

Ken is survived by his wife Linda of DeSmet, SD; children, Roy (Krista) Matson of Pine City, Tammy (Darren) DeWitt of Mitchell, SD, Joshua (Charrity) Matson of Hinckley, Steve Matson of Bryant, SD, Aaron Matson of Watertown, SD, Brenda (Eric) Johnson of DeSmet, SD, Rome (Jonas) Gonstead of Madison, WI, Rachael Matson of Watertown, SD, Robert Matson of Aberdeen SD, and Dean (Becca) Matson of Aberdeen; brothers, Wayne (Louise) Matson, Mike (Karla) Matson, Tom (Marie) Matson and Matthew (Kari) Matson; sisters, Pam Matson and Lynnae Amezcua; aunts Norma Matson and Carol Page; 17 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
