Rick enjoyed a nomadic lifestyle, spending his summers working at the Gunflint Lodge in Northern Minnesota and spending his winters working in Texas as a hunting guide. He loved hunting, fishing, and canoeing.
One summer while working at the Gunflint Lodge, Rick suffered a brain aneurysm and was rush to Minneapolis to perform surgery. Rick lived a couple years more but the damage done by the aneurysm was too great and he passed from complications.
Rick left behind a wife, Charley. He had one son, Jeremy (Samantha). And several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
