Robert D. Black Sr., 78, of Millville went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at his residence. He was born Dec. 20, 1942, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Donald and Zela (Bardo) Black. Robert was a graduate of Central Columbia High School's Class of 1960. Most of his life was spent in the Mount Pleasant Township area where he was also auditor for the township. He worked for PPL for more than 40 years, retiring as a lineman leader. Bob had more than 60 years as a volunteer fireman for Lightstreet, Hughesville, Benton, Millville and Orangeville. He was the chief for 21 years for Orangeville Volunteer Fire Co. He also held many offices in Columbia County Firemen's Association, and was 4-H leader for Columbia and Montour County. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army and was discharged with the rank of SPC4. Bob was a former member of Kitchen's United Methodist Church and a current member at Mill-Green United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former F. Elaine Dressler, whom he married on Sept. 17, 1966; two children: Robert D. Black Jr. and his wife, Katherine, of Louisiana, and Julie Diltz and her husband, Brian, of Millville; six grandchildren: Brian Huddleston Jr., and wife, Angie, Robert D. Black III, Brandon Black, Cameron Black, Ashley (Diltz) Shaner and husband, Joshua, Thomas Diltz and wife, Kayla (Wondoloski); great-grandchildren: Trevor and Owen Shaner; and 16 other great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: E. Darlene Martenas and D. Marie Eckroth. Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Mill-Green United Methodist Church, South State and Walnut streets, Millville, with his pastor, Pastor Robert Strozyk, officiating. Burial will follow at Kitchen's Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville.
