Barbara J. (Russell McKee) Straffin, 78 of Maple Street, passed away peacefully at her home October 4, 2021 after a period of failing health.
She was born November 1, 1942, the daughter of Albert and Clara (Crabtree) Russell and graduated from Lewison High School. Barbara joined the workforce at Clarostat Manufacturing in Dover, NH retiring after more than 40 years of service. Barbara then pursued her dream of earning an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at McIntosh College in Dover, NH.
Barbara loved visiting the beach to listen to the surf and people watch. She was also an avid cross-word puzzle fanatic. Mostly, she was a loving wife and grandmother who simply loved life. She loved raising her granddaughter, Courtney from age 3 and doted on all of her grand kids.
She was predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers, Warren and Ernest Russell and her 1st husband, Marvin McKee. She will be forever missed by her husband of 39 years, Larry Straffin of North Berwick; 2 sons, Mark (Myra) Maurice and Mike (Pam) Maurice, all of Berwick; step-son Matthew Straffin of Rochester, NH; step-daughter Michelle Straffin of Sanford; brother David (Patty) Russell of Berwick; sister Hildy (Willy) Davis of Rochester, NH; 9 grandchildren, Stephanie Maurice, Amanda Messier, Michael Maurice, Jazmine Straffin, Meghan Straffin, Courtney Straffin, Addilyne Skyler, Tyler and Zachary Sprague and 4 great-grandchildren, Abel, Liam Lochlan and Lillian.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, October 11 from 6pm to 8pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick where a funeral will be held Tuesday, October 12 at 10am. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, ME.
