Weaverville - Pauline Coates Phillips, 85, of 44 Ballard Branch Road, Weaverville died Saturday morning, Nov. 4, 2006.
Mrs. Phillips was born June 2, 1921, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a retired private duty certified nurse's assistant. Pauline was the daughter of the late Abraham Lafayette Coates Sr. and Pattie Rice Coates, and widow of the late William Richard Phillips, who died in 1982.
Surviving are her sons, Rickie Dean Phillips and wife, Karen, and Danny Lafayette Phillips and wife, Bonnie; grandchildren, William Reid Phillips of Weaverville, Joshua Daniel Phillips of Franklin and Michael Quinn Darling II of Boone; great-grandsons, Joshua Dalton Phillips and Jasper Daniel Chase-Phillips of Franklin; sister, Anna Ruth Wallen of Weaverville; and brothers, Harold Coates and Farold Coates, both of Marshall.
The funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at Grapevine Baptist Church, where she was baptized. The Revs. Eb and Danny Jenkins will officiate.
Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
