Farold Coates, age 78 of 120 Cargile Branch Rd., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at John F. Keever Solace Center. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a son of the late Abram L. and Patty Rice Coates. He was also preceded in death by three sisters; Portia Davis, Clara Ramsey and Pauline Phillips, two brothers; A. L. Coates Jr. and Paul Coates. Farold was saved and a faithful member of Arrington Branch Baptist Church for sixty-two years. He was self-employed as a carpenter.
Surviving is his wife of fifty-seven years Vergie Jenkins Coates, daughter, Tammy Coates of Marshall, sister, Anna Ruth Wallin of Weaverville, twin brother, Harold (Carol) Coates of Marshall, sister-in-law, Cora Coates of Asheville and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2013 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends B. P. Boyle, Homer Edwards, Kenneth Parker and D. Harry Culbertson Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the Coates Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
