Weldon Merton Stone, 42, of 75 Linden Street, fireman for 3 1/2 years at the Brattleboro Retreat, died unexpectedly Monday forenoon at his room. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the South Newfane Baptist Church. Burial will be in Williamsville Cemetery. Born in South Newfane, May 10, 1910, he was a son of the late Merton C. and Edith A. Stone. He served for three years in the Army during World War II. Mr. Stone was a member of the South Newfane Baptist Church and American Legion Post 5. He is survived by two daughters, Elvira, a student at Castleton Teachers College, and Marion, of Providence, R.I. and three sisters, Mrs. Lona Gallup and Mrs. Beulah Codding, both of Brattleboro, and Mrs. Marion Jones of South Newfane. He also leaves three brothers, Raymond A. of Wilder, Bernard C. of Williamsville and Roland H. of Putney.
