Merton Clyde Stone, 74, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carroll Jones, with whom he had lived the past several years. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist Church. Rev. Louis Watson officiating. Burial will take place in Williamsville Cemetery. He was born in Brattleboro July 10, 1874, a son of Alanson and Mary (Brooks) Stone. Nearly all of his life had been spent in this town. He formerly worked over 40 years for the late Charles Dexter of South Newfane and Philadelphia. Mr. Stone was married Aug. 6, 1904. to Edith Sollows of Nova Scotia, who died in 1932. He leaves two daughters: Marion, wife of Carroll Jones, and Beulah wife of Natt Codding of Brattleboro: four sons, Raymond of Wilder, Bernard of Williamsville and Weldon and Roland of Brattleboro: one step-daughter, Mrs. R. C. Gallup of Brattleboro; 12 grandchildren and one nephew. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
