Bernice was the daughter of the late Pickney "Pink" Lewis Wilson and Lucinda Mae Andrews Wilson. She was the widow of George Leamon Etheridge who preceded her in 2001. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Carl Wilson, Frank Wilson and Mae Wilson.
Bernice was a faithful member of Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church in Crusoe where she served as treasurer of the church for many years. She also retired from the Columbus County School System after 34 years of service as the cafeteria manager, serving at Old Dock Elementary School.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Henry Ward and Reverend Jamie Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia FW Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 10:45 pm Tuesday at the church. (prior to the service)
She is survived by three children, Jerry Trent Etheridge (Robin) of Whiteville, Jimmy Dale Etheridge (Anna) of Whiteville and Katheryn Marie Etheridge Blackmon of Longwood; two siblings, Naomi W. Hewett of Supply and Mary Lou Wilson Cumbee (Gene) of Civitown; three grandchildren, Tori Wilson, Bonnie Etheridge and Tabitha Etheridge; and a great-grandchild, Lakyn Wilson.
Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn is serving the family.
