He departed this life on September 9, 2021 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was 72 years old.
Melvin graduated from Caruthersville High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
On January 27, 1996 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Andra Jane Brown.
He worked as a respiratory therapist for many years at the Kennett Hospital.
Butch was a man that loved people. You would find him at the coffee shop daily telling stories and entertaining. He also enjoyed college basketball and loved to watch his sons play sports.
Survived by his wife, Janie Cummings, son Melvin Cummings, daughter, Jana Cossey; three stepsons-Terry Clark, Michael Clark, and Randall Clark, brother, John Paul Cummings, sister, Marie Revelle (Tom); nine grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Melvin and Robbie Jean Cummings; his first wife, Pat Cummings; three brothers; two sisters; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held September 11 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Jim Pilcher officiating. Interment in Maple Cemetery.
