Memorial services for Wanda Jean Martinez, 82, of Portales, will be at 2:00 PM, Wed., Sept. 1, 2021 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Rick Wilcher officiating, along with her son, Mike Davidson.

Wanda Jean Martinez was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Damon (Morrison) and H. R. "Red" McCrary, and died early on the morning of Aug. 29, 2021 in Portales. The McCrary family moved to Portales when she was a girl, and Wanda attended the Portales Schools. In July 1955, she was married to Jerry Davidson. The couple had three children together. After her children were in school, Wanda worked as a teacher's aide at Steiner Elementary and Lindsey Elementary schools. Later she was the Accounts Payable Supervisor for the Purchasing Department at E.N.M.U.

On April 23, 1977 she was married to Manuel "Marty" Martinez. For several years, Wanda had a gift shop inside their pharmacy where she sold many beautiful items. In addition, Wanda served as a Pink Lady in the Hospital Auxiliary, and as a board member for the Portales Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. She and Marty had traveled to all 50 states, as well as South America, Canada and Europe. Wanda loved Christmas, and had a huge collection of Hallmark Christmas ornaments.

She is survived by her husband, Marty of their home; a son, Mike Davidson and his companion, Carol Hazel of Portales; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Cindi Davidson of Lubbock, TX, Debby and Greg Nygren of Portales, Nancy and John Lees of Phoenix, AZ, Peggy and Joe Martin of Bulverde, TX and Connie and Orville Harris of Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren, Dustin (Amber) Davidson, Parker Davidson, David (Ashlee) Owens, Alex Owens, Matt (Emily) Lees, Josh (Lauren) Martin, Ryan Martin, Tawnie Harris, Calvin (Starr) Harris and Paul Harris; ten great-grandchldren; and a brother, Keith McCrary of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Kay Smoot, Nancy Miller, and Joyce Skaggs, a grandson, Jordan Lees who died in Oct. 2019, and an infant son, Mitchell Gene Davidson who was one of a set of twins.
