============================================================
Ann "Anna" J Ball is the 5th of 8 children born to James Ball I (b. 1795 County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland; d. 1870 Bentinck, Grey County, Ontario, Canada) and Jane Graham (b. 1798 County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland; 1876, Normanby, Grey, Ontario, Canada).

The Ball family removed from Northern Ireland about 1842, a few years before the Great Famine (aka Irish Potato Famine) hit Ireland between 1845-1852. Later in the 1901 Canada Census, two of the sons, William and Hugh, reported that the family arrived in the Bruce Peninsula in either 1842 or 1843.

Ann/Anna's siblings (children of James Ball I and Jane Graham):

1-Thomas Ball (b. abt 1825 Ireland – d. 14 Jul 1869 Grey County, Ontario, Canada) m. Jane Simpson, 3 ch.

2 - John Thomas Ball (b. 04 Oct 1828/31 prob. County Fermanagh, No. Ireland - d. 04 Mar 1920 Grey County, Ontario, Canada) m. Elizabeth P Smith (some records show Sarah Elizabeth P), 12 ch.

3 - Elizabeth Ball (b. 1829 County Fermanagh, No. Ireland – d. 20 Aug 1859, Bentinck, Grey County, Ontario, Canada) m. Jonathan Robinson, 5 ch.

4 - James Ball II (b. 10 Jul 1832 County Fermanagh, No. Ireland – d. 08 Jul 1912, Hanover, Grey County, Ontario, Canada) m. Jane Cain, 11 ch.

5 - Hugh Ball (b. 1835/37 County Fermanagh, No. Ireland – d. 07 May 1919 Wellington, Ontario, Canada) m. Mary Ann Smith, 7 ch.

6 - William Ball (b. 22 Feb 1840 County Fermanagh, No. Ireland – d. 12 Oct 1908 Normanby, Grey, Ontario, Canada) m. Sarah Bartman/Barton, 10 ch.

From the published obituaries of James and Jane (Graham) Ball's sons, James Ball II and William Ball, we know the family emigrated to eastern Ontario from their home near Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland either:
- in 1840 to County Carleton, Ontario until abt. 1852), or
-in 1842 (to North Gore, Ottawa, Canada until abt. 1858)

when the family moved to Bentinck. Their obituary facts vary slightly, but it seems the family emigrated to Canada just prior to the Irish Potato Famine.

Ann met Benjamin Robinson II - a fellow North Irelander from nearby Armagh County, Ireland - and they married c. 1851 in Grey County, Ontario, Canada. You can read extensively about the Robinsons on Benjamin's connected memorial. At least two of the Robinson brothers (Benjamin, Jonathan) likely did arrive at the onset of the Great Famine ... and two of the Ball sisters caught their eye pretty quickly it seems. Ann and her sister, Elizabeth, married the Robinson brothers: Benjamin married Ann; Jonathan married Elizabeth, around the same time frame of 1850/1851.

Ann and Benjamin had nine children together:

1-ANN JANE ROBINSON (1852 – 1862); died in childhood

2-BENJAMIN ROBINSON (1853 – 1922) m. AGNES GORDON, 2 ch.

3-ELIZABETH ROBINSON (1854 – 1934) m. 1st to JAMES DICKEY, 4 ch; m. 2nd to JAMES KERR, 2 ch.

4-SARAH ROBINSON (1856 – 1934) m. 1st to JOHN A. HART, 3 ch.; m. 2nd to John's brother GEORGE HART, no ch.; m. 3rd to PATRICK GENTER/GINTER, no ch.

5-MARY ROBINSON (1859 – 1948); she outlived all her siblings by over 15 years; m. HENRY C BASCOM, 2 ch.; m. 2nd CASPER DIEHM; m. 3rd HENRY POWELL HOAG

6-JAMES WILSON ROBINSON (1861 – 1902) m. ELIZABETH ANN SANDBURNE/SANBURN, 8 ch.

7-SAMUEL ROBINSON (1862 – 1901) m. ADAH L. QUANTZ (4 ch.); after his death, Adah married 2nd to Edward B Williams, 4 ch. Some of the Robinson children used their stepfather's last name of Williams.

8-ELIZABETH ROBINSON (1863 – 1931) m. FRED W. LILLY, no ch.

9-DAVID WILLIAM ROBINSON (1864 – 1916) m. EMMA BERTHA QUADE, 4 ch.

Sadly, Ann passed away unxpectedly, possibly in childbirth with her youngest son, David. A death record has yet to be uncovered, but family records indicates "a gravesite marker in Bentinck Township, Grey, Ontario, Canada -- names only (parents), St. George's Grey Bentinck (Reference #BG-G-027, Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid (http://ocfa.islandnet.com/)."
Hopefully, she's buried near her young daughter ANN JANE ROBINSON (1852-1862), who preceded her in death by about 2 years.

Anne's husband Benjamin married again , to Agnes Ann (Carleton) Banks on 20 Nov 1865 in Normanby, Grey, Ontario, Canada. Benjamin and Agnes had two children who died in childhood of typhoid fever in 1879. Shortly following the deaths of these youngest children, the couple emigrated from Grey County to the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA and settled in De Tour, Chippewa County. Several of his adult children from his marriage with Ann also emigrated around the same time, settling in the towns of DeTour, Raber, and Sault Sainte Marie in Chippewa County, Michigan, USA.
