At age 23 'Big Dave' married Mary V 'Jennie' Wright in 1895. 'Big Dave' and Jennie never had any biological children, but they raised 'Big Dave's' half sister, Christine Elizabeth Brewer, who was born 12 October 1907. The mother of Christine was Thomas Brewer's third wife, Ida Margaret Butler Lax Brewer, who died 20 August 1908 when Christine was just 10 months old.
