Elva was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Elizabeth, W.Va., the daughter of Emory and Martha Coe Davis. She married Charles Carroll Evans in 1942. They lived for many years in Mansfield, Ohio, before returning to the area and making their home in Belpre for more than 20 years.
Elva enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, introducing nieces and nephews to the joys of coffee and recently, visits from her great-great-nieces Violet, Charlotte and Maggie. She was always a positive presence.
Elva was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2008; her parents; a brother, Denver Davis; four sisters, Orcelia Vaught, Daisy Bailey, Ona Davis and Elma Russell Hogue; nieces, Jane Hogue and Lois Cassell; and a nephew, Randy Evans.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Evans Rumburg; nieces, Kimberli Constantino, her caregiver in recent years, Mary Hogue (Bob Morgenstern) and Marty Davis; nephews, Nelson Davis and Ken Vaught; nephew-in-law, Jack Cassell; and multiple great-nieces and nephews and their families.
Elva's family would like to thank the staff of Cedar Grove for the love and care they provided her.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Visitors are asked to wear masks. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, with Elva's great-nephew Alex Constantino officiating.
