Miss Ona B. Davis, 85, of Elizabeth, died Jan. 7, 2000, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

She was born Feb. 27,1914, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Emory N. and Martha Coe Davis. She was a graduate of Huntington High School and attended Marshall College and retired in 1976 from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services with 42 years of service. She was a member of the Elizabeth Beauchamp Chapter, Daughters of American Pioneers and served on the board of directors of the Elizabeth Cemetery Association. She was a former member of the Pythian Sisters and a former volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was a longtime member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church and enjoyed genealogy, reading and gardening.

She is survived by two sisters, Orcelia Vaught of Grove City, Ohio, and Elva Evans of Belpre, Ohio; several nieces and nephews including Jane Hogue and Mary Hogue, both of Charleston, whom she raised; and several great-nieces and nephews including Jessie Hogue-Morgenstern and Jacob
Hogue-Morgenstem, both of Charleston.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Denver Davis; and two sisters, Daisy Bailey and Elma Hogue.

Funeral services were Jan. 9 at the Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark McCloy officiating. Burial followed in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Elizabeth.
