He was a son of the late Daniel W. Evans and Carrie Thomas Evans.

Charles was a WWII Army Air Force veteran. He began working for the Air National Guard at Lahm Airport in Mansfield on June 20, 1948 and retired December 29, 1977 as a maintenance chief of all aircraft. Charles was a charter member of the Air National Guard, when the Guard was formed in Mansfield. He was baptized into Stout Memorial United Methodist Church in Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elva Davis Evans of Belpre; one sister, helen Evans Rumburg of Parkersburg; one niece, Kimberli Rumburg Constantino of Parkersburg; one nephew, Randall P. Evans of Manchester GA; three great nieces, Marcia Fields and Jennifer Carter both of Manchester GA, and Francis Constantino Coffey of Bluefield WV; two great nephews, Evan Bevins of Marietta, OH, and Alex Constantino of Parkersburg; two sisters-in-law, Margaret L. Evans of Ellenton, FL, Judy Evans of Dayton, OH; Elva's six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Darrell D. Evans, G. Paul Evans, and J. Don Evans.
