Bruce was born May 9, 1940, in Tiffin to William "Audley" and Evelyn (Shelt) Laugherty. He married Susann Kin on May 31, 1958, in Carey and she survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include a son, Douglas (Jeannie) Laugherty of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five daughters, Debra (Michael) Ward of Lake Worth, Fla., Rhonda Shellhammer of Tiffin, Tina (Tony) Vera of Tucson, Ariz., Kim (John) Lang of Fostoria, and Becky (Kenny) Welly of Tiffin; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; a brother Larry (Carolyn) Laugherty of Tiffin; many nieces and nephews; and two sister-in-laws Betty Laugherty, Sharon Laugherty; and a half sister-in-law, Loretta "Eddy" Platt all of Tiffin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wade and Kenneth Laugherty, a sister, Anna Mathias, five half brothers Bob, Harold, Ray, and Paul Platt and William Laugherty Jr., three half sisters, Eva Jean (Platt) Rodgers and Dorothy (Platt) Southward and Juanita (Laugherty) Deffenbaugh, and a son-in-law, Robert Shellhammer.
Bruce was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge 846, AmVets 48, and the VFW. He was a roofer, worked at Basic until they closed, and he retired from Grief Brothers in 2004. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, spending time with his family and friends, and trips to Florida.
