Paul W. Platt, Sr. (better known as "PP") passed away July 16, 2016. He was born August 20, 1926 to Robert and Evelyn (Shelt) Platt in Tiffin, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Smith) and 5 sons, Paul, Jr. (Ruth) of Punta Gorda, Florida, Raymond (Ruthie) of Kingston, Ohio, David of Tiffin, Daniel (Terri) of Deatsville, Alabama, and Larry of Tiffin, brothers, Larry (Carol) and Bruce (Sue) Laugerty, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his adopted daughter, Zola, sisters, Eva Jean, Dorthy, and Anna Mae, and brothers, Harold, Robert, Raymond, Buster, and Kenneth, and a granddaughter, April Ray. He served 8 years in the U.S. Marines (WWII and Korea) and was part of the assault landing at Leyte, Philippine Islands. He had the privilege of serving retired General Dwight David Eisenhower. He worked as a cook at Heidelberg College, then went to work at American Standard, where he retired. He was a lifetime member of both the VFW and DAV, a member of the United Baptist Church. He is best known for his work as a school crossing guard and his potato chip cookies. A funeral service for Paul will take place July 20, 2016 at 10am at the Engle Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Pastor Jesse Caro Officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow services Wednesday at Seneca Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward the erection of a concrete eagle at the Kiwanis Manor Veteran's Flag Pole, which was a dream of Paul's. Check can be made payable to Paul Platt, Jr.
