He was born on July 12, 1924, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Robert and Evelyn (Shelt) Platt. On January 28, 1966, he married Elizabeth J. Drukenmiller.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Randy Platt and Dennis M. Burkett of Fostoria; 3 daughters, Pam Hemmerly, Gail (Ray) Beckelkaupt and Martina Burkett of Tiffin; brother, Paul Platt of Tiffin; 17 Grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; 2 brothers, Robert and Harold Platt; and 2 sisters, Eva Jean (Arden) Rodger and Dorothy (John) Caudill.
Raymond graduated from high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a caretaker at Meadowbrook Park, retired in 1985, after 31 years as a kiln fireman at American Standard and was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Tiffin Post #2858.
There will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom with Pat Danner officiating. The United Veterans Council will conducted military honors. There will be a luncheon to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice Care or a charity of the donor's choice.
