I. C. VANNETTA, FORMER
JOPLIN MAN, IS DEAD.
Galena, Kan., March 4. — Ira Charles Vannetta, 66 years old, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Fry, on Main street at 12:15 o'clock last night.
Mr. Vannetta was born in Philadelphia, Pa. He settled in mining.
He was married to Miss Malinda C. Hammond of Joplin in 1888.
Later they moved on a farm south of Galena where they lived until Mrs. Vannetta's death, which occurred last April.
Since that time, Mr. Vannetta had been living with his daughter here.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Fry and Mrs. Laura Tennis of Galena, Mrs. Lula Frazier of North Century, Okla., and Mrs. Amy Bash of Tennessee Prairie, and two sons, Roy Vannetta of Tennessee Prairie, and John Vannetta of Lincolnville, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at the Spring Grove mission at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. The Rev. John Booe and the Rev. William Robertson will officiate.

Notes:
Vannatta; Vanatta; V one n or two n's and 2 tt's with a, e, or i, in any order. John's death notice was the first I saw as Van Atta or whichever spelling was used.
While the two families, Vanatta's of Columbus and ours seemed to come from the same part of Pennsylvania, they are consistently Vanatta, while mine wasn't consistently any one spelling.
I'm also not sure Ira Charles was born in Philadelphia, Pa. either.
His wife, Malinda Catherine Hammons was most often found under Malinda and her maiden name was most often Hammons.
There was a lot of wrong information, that hasn't held up to research in the families
