Eugene "Gene" Talmadge Sloan, 83, of Brunswick, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Southeast Georgia Health System after a sudden illness.
Eugene was born July 19,1938 in Hortense to the late William Arthur and Mary Adams Sloan. After proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps he worked for many years as an Aircraft Electrician, a Construction Foreman, cabinetmaker, as well as the Owner/Operator of Sloan Trucking for over 30 years. He was also a faithful member of First United Pentecostal Church of Brunswick and a member of the Sociable Seniors of the Golden Isles. Eugene was a hard worker who selflessly devoted his life to his family and his many lifelong friends. His love and generosity will be remembered and missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Ivella Coleman Sloan; his infant son, Kenneth Eugene; his sisters Onie Flowers, Florence Blaylock, and Ocie Flowers; his brothers, Burt Sloan, William "Vet" Sloan, and Herman Sloan.

Survivors include his daughters, Janet Robin Sloan, Sharon Kay Sloan, Karen Ann Harrison (Tony), Lorenda Burnette Loffredo (Dale) all of Brunswick; grandchildren Bradley Sloan (Rachel) of Bloomingdale, GA, Allen Cox (Jacy) of Brunswick, Michael Miller of Snowflake, AZ, Michelle Nail (Alex) of Brunswick, Alex Loffredo of Mount Olive, NJ, Andrew Loffredo, Kara White (Cody), Chelsea Holyfield (Michael) all of Brunswick; sister, Zubie Wolverton; brothers, Allen Sloan (Sarah), Herschel Sloan (Patricia), Robert Sloan (Iris);13 great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2021at Edo Miller Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 at First United Pentecostal Church in Brunswick. Reverend Danny Webster and Bradley Sloan will officiate; Interment with military honors rendered by the USMC will follow at Hortense Cemetery.

Pall bearers and honorary pall bearers will be his grandsons Bradley Sloan, Allen Cox, Michael Miller, Alex Loffredo, Andrew Loffredo, Alex Nail, Michael Holyfield and Cody White.
