1925-2013

Arthur Bert Sloan, 87, of Pensacola, FL died Thursday morning, June 27, 2013 at Covenant Hospice Care in Pensacola.

Born in Hortense, GA on Oct 30, 1925, his parents were William Arthur and Mary Lynn Adams Sloan.

He is preceded in death by his son, Merideth Keith Sloan, and 3 sisters.

Mr. Sloan is a retired USAF Captain and was a longtime resident of Pensacola, FL. He also retired as a planning engineer for Alabama Drydock and Shipbuilding Co, Mobile, AL.

He was active in the Pensacola Rose Society and the Florida Master Gardeners program having donated over 2000 hours of service to the Pensacola Historical Society gardens and grounds work.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Merle Clemons Sloan; 2 children, Paul Arthur Sloan of Garland, TX and Michael Allen Sloan (Sherron) of Tallahasee, FL; 3 grandchildren; 6 brothers; a sister; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held 5-7pm Friday, July 5, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Rawson Chapel of Campus Church, 5404 Rawson Ln., Pensacola, FL with Pastor Denis McBride officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.
