Nola Mae Prunty, 82, died and went home to be with the Lord at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Alton. She was born on July 15, 1924, in Rose Hill, Va., daughter of John and Mary (Marcum) Combs. Her marriage to Delbert Dean Prunty took place on Sept. 4, 1946, in Picket, Ark. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1999. She had been the assistant postal clerk at the Fidelity Post Office.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and David Shaw of Brighton; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Chris Prunty of Brighton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Banks, Hazel Montley and Verdia Prunty, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; and two
brothers, Rollin Combs of Carrollton and Norris Combs of Scottville, Ill. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lillie Long; and four brothers, Millard, Jerry, John and William Combs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Medora, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Revs. Lucy Anderson and Matthew Shaw will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery near Medora. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Sisters of St. Francis Convent of the Martyr St. George in Alton.
