Anna Schwarte, daughter of Herman and Magdalena Nolles Schwarte was born March 7, 1875 and died at her home in Westphalia, August 28, 1956 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 21 days.
She married Benedict Blum June 21, 1893 in St. Boniface churhc. To this union 14 children were born. One died in infancy. She was a member of the Rosary Society and the Third order of St. Francis.
She had spent all of her life in the Westphalia community. She had been on invalid for many years.
Surviving her are Mrs Joe Schlitz of Manilla, Sister Hermanita, Frank, Herman, Brother George S.J. of St. Louis, Mrs Joe Kenkel of Earling, Sister Georgiana, William, Mrs Nick Bissen Jr., of Earling, Sister Benedette, Marie, Sister Marie Ann and Vincent. The Sisters are all from St. Rose Convent La Crosse, Wisconsin, 41 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three brothers, John of Randolph, Nebraska; Herman of Harlan; and WIlliam of Council Bluffs. Her husband and one infant child preceded her in death.
Services were held in St. Boniface church at Westphalia, August 30, 1956 with a grandson Rev. Benedict Kenkel celebrating Solemn Requiem High Mass.
Interment was in the St. Boniface cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, George Kenkel, Benedict Trierweiler, Kenneth and Jerome Blum and Tony and Mike Schiltz.
