Officiating the service will be Reverend Matthew Long assisted by Reverend Kevin Mues, Father Charles Glorioso and numerous others. Visitation will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the Vigil and Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana.
Rosina Cascio, beloved sister and aunt passed away, Wednesday, June 9, 2021. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 23, 1937 to Rosario and Concetta Cascio.
Rosina dedicated her life to her church and family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 30 years. Over the years she has served as a Eucharistic minister, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) team member, Chairperson of the Flower Guild, Sacristan, Altar Society member, Parish Council member, member of Mary's Workers and the Bereavement Ministry. She received the Bishop's Medal for her work at St. Joseph's. Rosina shared and honored her Sicilian heritage by coordinating the St. Joseph's Altar for many years.
Reverend Matthew Long, current pastor of St. Joseph's said of Rosina, "I had the privilege of being Rosina's friend before I was her pastor. I cannot image St. Joseph Catholic Church without her. She was a true servant of Christ."
Early in her career she worked at M. Levy department store as office manager and then store manager. For many years she worked at Regions Bank. Rosina never really retired though, working part-time until last year.
Rosina enjoyed flowers and was an avid gardener. She had a green thumb and everything she planted flourished. She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for family and friends. One of her greatest gifts was loving her nieces and nephews like they were her own children. She was proud of her Sicilian heritage and passed that pride onto her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert Cascio, Sammie Cascio, Johnnie Cascio, Peter Cascio and Angelo Cascio; sisters, Camille Matassa, Connie Aston, and Mary Jane O'Brien.
She is survived by brothers, Anthony Cascio, his wife Martha; George Cascio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Rosina as pallbearers are Phyllis Allen, David Aston, Michael Aston, Michael Cascio, Roy C. Cascio, Roy J. Cascio, Sam Cascio, and Connie Norton.
