Elijah T McPherson was born in DeKalb county, Alabama on April 11, 1816 and died at Bradleyville, Missouri, June 5, 1929, aged 83 years, 1 month and 24 days. Death was due to cerebral apoplexy. Deceased was buried in the Bradleyville Cemetery the 12th inst. The funeral services were conducted by Rev U. G. Johnson of Forsyth.
Mr. McPherson was a veteran of the Civil War having served in the Union army as a member of Co K 14th Kansas Cavalry, being honorably discharged at Ft. Gibson, Indian Territory, now a part of the state of Oklahoma.
After the war he homesteaded in Douglas county, Missouri, later moving to Polk county in this state and finally settling in Taney county, first engaging in the general mercantile business at Bradleyville and later turning to farm activity in which business he continued until the time of his death.
His first wife was Martha Swadley. She died a number of years ago. To this union seven children were born, Mary, Enos, Sarah, Alta, Bud [must be John T], Rodela (who died in childhood) and Laura. His second wife was Rebecca J Morris. Three children were born to this union. They were Ralph, Gladys and Edith.
The surviving wife and nine surviving children were all present at the funeral. The children are Mrs. T J Whitaker, Alberta, Canada, [Typo: s/b I J Whittaker], Enos McPherson, Bradleyville, Missouri, Mrs. J A Adams, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. G W Brown, Sequem, Washington, J. T.
