Mahalia died while her husband, Enos, was in the U.S. Army
Mahalia and her husband Enos were living in NW Arkansas during the Civil War and Mahalia left to go live in Illinois to escape the devastation, as everything they had, crops, stock, etc. was taken by the Union Army when they came through the area. The Federal Govt provided free train passage to a Free State for the citizens living there, and she went to Illinois-Ashley Station where she died.
Her grave is no longer found as it probably was first marked by a stone or unmarked.
