Elizabeth J Counts, b April 30, 1849, was the 5th child of John B Counts and Elizabeth Smyth.
She was born in Russell Co, VA and married 16 May 1865 to Jacob F Stair at Brickley's Mill, Russell Co, VA. After their marriage Jacob and Mariah appear to have resided in Scott County, Virginia, where they are found residing on both the 1870 and 1880 censuses. They had 10 children all born in Scott Co. They eventually moved into Wise County, Virginia, however. Jacob died on 10 January 1886 at Coeburn in Wise County, Eliza died 7 years later on 3 December 1893.
