Lois Lovell Lacy
Lois Lovell Grover was born in Protection, KS on November 27, 1930 to Everett and Ida Harmon Grover. She grew up on the farm where they lived outside of town --- a home with no electricity, no running water, no phone, and no indoor bathroom. Her family raised corn, cane, and a few dairy cows. Lois helped with grinding cornmeal, making sorghum from the cane, milking cows and making butter. When Lois was 14 years old her parents bought a farm 7 ½ miles north of Springfield, CO and moved back to the Big Rock Community where they had both been raised. The family still had no electricity or indoor plumbing. Lois enjoyed being outdoors and helping her dad with the cattle and farming. She missed her friends, and it took a while to make new ones. Among the new friends were the Lacy boys --- one in particular who had just returned home from the war. Lois married Ronald Lacy on May 23, 1948, just 3 days after graduating from Springfield High School. Over the next 7 ½ years they were blessed with 6 children. They lived in the Springfield area for the next few years before moving to Denver, CO in 1953 while Ronald attended college. Lois was excited to finally have a home with electricity and indoor plumbing and even a phone.
They returned to Springfield in 1957 after Ronald graduated. In the spring of 1959, Lois and Ronald moved their family out to the Arbuthnot place where they lived for 10 years. During this time they were very active in church. Lois taught Sunday school, Training Union, Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir, helped with piano & organ playing and served as church clerk among other things.

In 1969, Lois and Ronald moved their family back to the Denver area where they were once again very involved in the church, and developed a burden for missions. In June of 1973, they traveled to Alaska visiting several missionaries. Six months later they visited missionaries in Yucatan, Mexico. Over the next 15 years they built churches, encourage missionaries and helped out anyway they could. In 1978, they purchased a lot, dug a basement and moved a house onto it making Springfield their home base as they traveled across the country and to the mission field. Grain bin construction, RV deliveries and various other jobs provided the finances needed. Lois was especially thrilled to have visited Mexico, Canada, and all 50 states and their capitals. They continued to travel until shortly before Ronald passed away in July of 2011. Over the next ten years, Lois stayed very active playing the piano for church, traveling with her family, quilting, reading, and doing puzzles . All her life she enjoyed God's creation and could identify most birds, plants and trees. She moved to La Junta in June of 2020 to live with her son and daughter-in-law. Her love of God's handiwork continued and she especially enjoyed watching the sunrise and all the activity outside the farmhouse window.

Lois accepted Christ as her Savior the winter of 1950 and served Him faithfully the rest of her life. She was granted entrance into Heaven April 23, 2021. Her salvation assures us that we will indeed see her again if we, too, put our trust in Christ.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, her sister, Alice, and her daughter-in-law, Sonja.

Lois is survived by her sisters: Mary Lacy and Delores Cummings, her sons: Don (Shirley) Lacy, and Vern (Barb) Lacy, her daughters: Eva (Richard) Rollison, Carol (Gary) Reiter, Ronda (Joe) Dobek, and Jeanie (Bryan) Augsburger. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren: Donja Andrews, Doug Lacy, Dana (Ron) Rudzek, Rachel (Bret) Hansen, Roycee (Jeremiah) Mullis, Dan (Kathleen) Muth, Becky (Jeff) Kiser, Kevin (Mary) Muth, Rachel (Mirand) Barrientez, Bill (Jaimie) Rollison, Jenny (Richard) Sims, Levi (Erin) Reiter, Troy (Rachel) Reiter, Krisha (Dylan) Sielaff, Erica (Jeff) Mitchell, Lance (Carrie) Augsburger and Joanna Augsburger, 43 great-grandchildren, 4 great-greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Lois' life suggested donations can be made to First Baptist Church Mission Fund.
