Paul Gaston Black, 57-year old farmer of the Salem neighborhood, died of a heart attack about 9:30 a.m. Monday and his remains were interred in the Lebanon Cemetery after funeral services had been conducted at the church there at 10 a.m., Tuesday by the Rev. E. G. Allen of Nashville.
Pallbearers were Bruce Nelson, Luther Glaze, Charlie Long, Arthur Thornton, Will Beasley, and Greer Clem. McConnell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Black was a prominent farmer and a leading citizen of his community and the county at large, a church member and a member of Woodmen of the World. His passing occasioned widespread regret among his many friends.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Vona Christopher Black; four sons, Thomas of Athens, and John H., Marvin and Paul G. Black Jr., of Salem; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Beasley, Harriman, Tenn., Mrs. J. A. Craig, Athens, Route 5, Mrs. Lawson Beasley and Miss Mauvice Belle Black, Salem; three brothers and one sister.
