Denny was the youngest child in the Washam
Family of one brother and five sisters.
He drafted into the Marines
Arriving in Vietnam 29 September 1968 Denny
was assigned to Lima Company ,3rd Battalion,
26th Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division.
The battalion was participating in Operation
Mead River and Lima Company was conducting
a patrol in the vicinity of Dong Tien (2), six
kilometers west northwest of Dien Ban,when
Lima Company encountered hostile forces and
Denny died as a result of a gunshot wound to
the body from hostile rifle fire.
Survived by his parents,Earl & Flossie Wright
Washam,his brother;Bobby D and 5 sisters;
Helen Rose,Earldeen, Wanda Lou,Alma Lois
and Virginia Ann Washam all of Route #1,
Norman,TN.
