Mr. McHugh graduated from St. Louis University. He joined Pillsbury Co. in 1926 as a sales trainee, in 1951, opened a millfeed brokerage office in Springfield and founded his own millfeed brokerage.
He was a member of Little Flower Church, Cracker Barrell, past president of Sangamon County Red Cross and Illini Country Club. He had been a volunteer at Lincoln Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Mercedes McHugh; daughter, Nancy McHugh Hahn of Springfield; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
