Robert John McHugh, 88, of Springfield died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday at Doctors Hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1905, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of John P. and Anna Bauer McHugh. He married Mercedes Mueller. Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. McHugh graduated from St. Louis University. He joined Pillsbury Co. in 1926 as a sales trainee, in 1951, opened a millfeed brokerage office in Springfield and founded his own millfeed brokerage.
He was a member of Little Flower Church, Cracker Barrell, past president of Sangamon County Red Cross and Illini Country Club. He had been a volunteer at Lincoln Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Mercedes McHugh; daughter, Nancy McHugh Hahn of Springfield; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
