Bertha Binder, 93, rural Hays, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at her home. She was born Dec. 27, 1913, in Topeka to Nick A. and Anna (Wasinger) Pfannenestiel.

She married Alois Binder on April 19, 1932, in Munjor. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1997.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, Robert J. Binder and wife, Mary, Hays; a daughter, Elma Jane Wuertz and husband, Errol, Hays; a brother, Edwin Pfannenstiel, Hays; a sister, Sister Lorraine Pfannenstiel, Chicago; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a infant daughter, Mary Agnes Binder; five brothers, Alfred Pfannenstiel, Aloys Pfannenstiel, Celestine Pfannenstiel, Alphonse Pfannenstiel and Albinus Pfannenstiel; and three sisters, Mary Rohr, Susan Rohr and Lena Pfannenstiel.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Hays. A parish vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the funeral home.
