Walter S. Gordon, 68, lifelong resident of Jackson and Hinds County, died suddenly Friday morning at his home, 1720 Poplar Blvd.

Mr. Gordon was born in Jackson April 9, 1887, a son of the late Davis Gordon and Jennie Manship Gordon.

For many years he was engaged in the real estate business and later as an oil lease broker. Until his retirement two years ago, for several years he had lived near Utica where he was engage in farming interests.

He was a member of the Carpenter Methodist Church.

Surviving members of his family are his wife, Mrs. Cleta Bonslagel Gordon; a son, Walter Scott Gordon, Jr., of Lafayette, La.; five grandchildren; his daughter, Mrs. Cleta Gordon Shirley, died in November 1953. Also surviving are, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Gordon Collins and Mrs. Janie Gordon Davis, both of Jackson; and three brothers, Davis Gordon and Manship Gordon, both of Jackson and Alfred Gordon, of Tchula.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending arrival of his son who was in New York at the time of Mr. Gordon's death.
