Ernest Andrew “Sonny” Peeler, Jr., 79, of 381 Draytonville Road, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Elsie Lydia Peeler for 60 years and son of the late Ernest Andrew Peeler, Sr. and Dorcas Davis Peeler.
He retired from textiles and was a member and loved attending Draytonville Baptist Church. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Donna P. Atkins of Gaffney; three sons, Dennis Peeler, John Peeler (Lynn) and Garry Peeler (Robin), all of Gaffney and David Lydia (Brandi) of Gaffney who was raised as a son in the home; four sisters, Alice Baston, Doris Patterson, Thelma Guthrie, all of Gaffney and Ruth McCoy of Fort Lauderdale, Fl.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Ruppe, Durhan Ruppe (Megan), Coty Peeler (Ashley), Amanda Epps (Richard), Kevin Peeler, Casey Peeler and Caleb Peeler; fifteen great-grandchildren, Haley, Jaysa, Kahne, Tucker, Jenna, Ellie, Kenzie, Josie, Abigail, Jase, Brayden, Kieyler, Mackenzie, Madyson and Kylee; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen P. Peeler, Lois Bright and Dorothy Painter and two great-grandchildren, Jack & Evi.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in the Draytonville Baptist Church Family Life Center. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Church Life Center with Dr. Keith Harrill, Dr. Robert Ivey and Reverend Tommy Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Draytonville Baptist Church, 179 Draytonville Church Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29340 or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, South Carolina Chapter, 107 Westpark Boulevard, Suite 150, Columbia, S.C. 29210.
