Henry Cossey, 99, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Mr. Cossey was a native of Hector, a resident of Hamburg for the past 23 years and a former resident of Eudora for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II, a retired cotton and soybean farmer, and was of the Assembly of God faith. He was a gardner, enjoyed working in his flowers, was an avid hunter and in later years, enjoyed hunting with his wife. Mr. Cossey was a man of his word and believed that a handshake was better than any contract.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Marjory Hamilton Cossey in 2017; a son Tilman Cossey in 2004; his parents, John H. & Alice Wilson Cossey; seven brothers, Vernon Cossey, Arvle Cossey, Lee Cossey, Othel Cossey, Eugene Cossey, Ray Cossey and Cecil Cossey; two sisters, Mary Cossey Pack and Ruby Cossey Curtis and his daughter-in-law, Dottie Cossey.

He is survived by his daughter, Betty McDill of Hamburg; three grandsons, Jimmy Cossey of Lafayette, Louisiana, Johnny Hodge and wife, Jan, and Steven Hodge and wife, Brandi, all of Hamburg and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021,in the Parkdale Cemetery with Bro. James Edwin Cossey and Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Pallbearers are Johnny Hodge, Steven Hodge, Kolten Hodge, Norman Cossey, Mike Cossey, and Coleman Matthews. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Cossey, Tommy Wood, Woody West, Elbert Cossey, and all Veterans.
