Ray Cossey, 82, of Parkdale, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Cossey was a native of Parkdale and a resident of Ashley County all of his life. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, a Mason and a member of the Portland Masonic Lodge # 499.

He is preceded in death by a son, Cecil Lamar Cossey in 2010; a granddaughter, Marci Rankin in 2004; his parents, John H. & Alice Wilson Cossey; six brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Martin Cossey of Parkdale; a son, Elbert Ray Cossey of Crossett; four daughters, Linda Barrett of Hot Springs, Dot Zaunbrecher of Benton, Alice Albright of Alma and Mary Jane Johnston of Fountain Hill; a brother, Henry Cossey of Hamburg; a sister, Ruby Curtis of Crossett; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. James Cossey and Rev. Lloyd Townsend officiating. Burial will be in the Bell Cemetery. Pallbearers are Cecil Ray Cossey, Anthony Zaunbrecher, Keith Barrett, Jeffery Albright, Josh Cossey, Vick Barrett, Matthew Rankin, Vincent Zaunbrecher and John Thomas Zaunbrecher. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Portland Masonic Lodge #499, Bumper Thornhill, Jeff Curtis and Stan White. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, c/o Mary Jo Burns, 3741 HWY 8 East, Parkdale, AR 71661.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Saturday at the church.
