Born in Lafayette on April 2, 1935, he had lived here most of his life. Mr. Prophet worked at Pay Less Super Market on U.S. 231 South.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan. His hobbies were fishing and bowling. Surviving are two sons, a sister Ruth D. Kennedy, all of Lafayette; and two brothers, Glenn W. Prophet of Michigan City and Wayne Prophet of Florida.
