Alan Michael Armstrong, 58 of Brookings, SD and formerly Galena, IL, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 22, 2020, in Brookings.

He was born June 15, 1962, the son of Leroy “Sam” and Virginia (Beadle) Armstrong.

He was previously married to Christine Klave of Akron, IA on May 5, 1990.

Alan was a Class A chef and showed it in multiple ways through his job and for his family and friends! Alan enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and being with his children and grand babies. But Alan’s heart has always been on the golf course! (He will always be a pro in our heart!). He was a current member of the Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus.

Alan is survived by his two sons, Kevin of Morehead City, NC, and Kyle Armstrong of Lemars, IA, two daughters, Casey (Chad) Jacobs of Akron, IA and Kaitlin (Kurt) Armstrong of Independence, IA, five grand-babies he cherished so very much; Kain, Jade, Emma, Haylee, and Christopher, two sisters, Lynn (Mike) Higginbotham of Gurdon, AR, and Jan (Gilles) Godin of Kapuskasing, Ontario, one brother, Jeff Armstrong of Fort Dodge, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ronald “Ronny” and Mark. “Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Fly high Daddio.”

Funeral service will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2020, in St. Michael Cemetery, Galena where friends may gather at the cemetery after 10 AM until time of service. Due to COVID-19 social distancing and masks will be requested. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is in charge of arrangements.
