Mark was born on Dec. 12, 1957, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Leroy D. and Virginia M. (Beadle) Armstrong.
He attended Galena High School and served his country in the United States Navy.
Mark enjoyed trucking and worked for Solace Trucking in Lena. For the last 12 years, he was a driver for Martin Minerals of Lena.
An avid Chicago Cubs fan, he also played softball for many years in the Lena area. He enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River and playing in bowling and dart game leagues.
He is survived by two sisters; Lynn (Mike) Higgenbotham of Gurdon, Ark., and Jan (Gilles) Godin of Kapuskasing, Ontario; and two brothers, Alan (Christine) Armstrong of Independence, Iowa, and Jeff Armstrong of Webster City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Leroy; and one brother, Ronald David Armstrong.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13, and on Monday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. each evening at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. At his request, cremation rites were accorded and there will be no services or burial at this time. A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
