Amos Archuleta, age 89, joined his sweetheart, Stella, in heaven on December 24, 2020. He was born in Petaca, New Mexico, on April 3, 1931, to Juan and Manualita Valdez Archuleta. He was the third of 10 children, having 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Dad was very proud of his New Mexico heritage. He grew up roaming the hills of Petaca with his siblings and cousins. The family relocated to Utah and dad attended Spanish Fork High. Amos joined the military in 1951, and served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict. His status as a Veteran was a great source of pride to him. After his discharge, he went to work for the D&RG Railway. He spent 35 years there, retiring as a section foreman.

Music was always a big part of Amos’ life. He was a self-taught, gifted guitarist. While playing with his band at a dance in Helper, Utah, he met his wife, Stella Vigil. It was love at first sight and they were married in October 1955. They spent the next 64 years together, until her passing in August of 2019. They raised their first family, Peggy, Jerry, and Mike, in Springville. They relocated to Salem, where they raised their second family (their grandchildren): Brandon, Brady, Jasmine, and Tyler . Mom and dad loved to travel, camp, fish, gamble, entertain their family at their home and play cards with friends. They were truly sweethearts and best friends. Amos loved to play music and played with his band, The Midnight Strangers, for more than 50 years.

Amos is survived by two of his children; Peggy (Gene) Ostler, and Mike Archuleta; his 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mark Archuleta and Alfonso Rodriguez; sisters, Priscilla Sanchez and Loyda Kyremes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella; son, Jerry; his parents; brothers, Dan and Obed Archuleta; sisters: Ascension Gallegos, Emily Huff, and Vickie Zamora.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
