George and his wife,Matilda E. Lawson Young, were both buried in a concrete tomb above ground.George built the tomb himself, and once it was done,he climbed inside saying he wanted to see how he was going to like it.Over the years the tomb deteriorated and required expensive repair several times. Finally, after some 56 years,George's descendants decided to remove the tomb and bury George and Matilda's remains in the ground. The tomb was taken down on 1 July 1994 and the bodies were taken to the Husted-Ingersoll Funeral Home in Unionville,MO. awaiting reburial. The bodies were said to be in a surprisingly good state of preservation, but dehydrated. The bodies were reburied on 21 July 1994.The same marker that had been on the concrete tomb was used as the grave's headstone.
