Robert G. Compton was born June 12, 1927, in Witt, IL, son of Lester E. and Mercy Hadley Compton. He married Lois E. Smith December 22, 1951, in Nokomis, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert, Roy, Lawrence and Ray and sister, Edith.

Robert served in the Army during the end of World War II and the Korean War as a mechanic in Germany.
