Retired Postman
WAYNE- Orlo M. Shafer, 80, of 142 Laauwe Ave., Wayne, died Thursday at home unexpectedly.
Born in Michigan, he lived in Kerny 46 years before moving to Wayne nine years ago. He had been a Kearny Post Office employee 40 years, retiring 18 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Mr. Shafer was a 50-year member of Triume Lodge F&AM and a member of Joseph Frobisher Post 99, American Legion, both of Kearny.
A private service will be held from the funeral home at 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Doris Murphy, with whom he lived, and Mrs. Lois Blasco of Totowa; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
