Obituary in The News gave cause of his death. Quote-"Ben suffered a stroke of apoplexy feeding his horse at his home in Broadacre. He apparently went to the barn to feed and when he failed to return an investigation was made. He was taken to the house and administered to but he gradually became weaker and died without rousing. Ben was one of the best farmers of the community".
He is believed to be the son of James Thogmartin and Alicy.
