Clarence "Bud" Albracht, 81, of Newman Grove died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.

Mr. Albracht was born April 20, 1920, at rural Lindsay to Frank and Isabelle (Schaefer) Albracht. He attended school at St. Bernard to the eighth grade. He joined the U. S. Marine Corps in July 1942 and was honorably discharged in
October 1945. He participated in action in the British Solomon Islands, Okinawa and Guam.

He married Lorrine Meier on Sep. 28, 1947, at Madison. The couple owned and operated Bud's Sanitary Service until he retired in 1980.

He was a member of Holy Family Church and the American Legion Post 73 in Newman Grove, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Newman Grove and the Disabled American Veterans in Columbus.

He served as a baseball and softball umpire for local leagues and Legion baseball for many years.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Clarine (Scott) Nelson of Lincoln; one brother, Wilfred "Bill" Albracht of Broken Bow; five sisters, Clara Backes of Columbus, Alvina Chevrier of Fremont, Germaine "Gerry" Schmidt of Platte Center, Darlene Korus of Lindsay and Bonnie Helmburger of Fort Morgan, CO; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, one brother and four sisters.
