Funeral services for William Rockow, 91, of Dows were held Monday from the First Presbyterian Church in Dows. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery and the Willim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rockow died on Friday, April 1, 1977 at the Belmond hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks after suffering a heart attack.
The son of Julius and Ottilia Kallies Rockow, he was born on a farm six miles north of Williams on November 28, 1885 and was baptized and confirmed at the Vernon Lutheran Church. He was married to Emma Lenz on February 2, 1910. They farmed southwest of the Vernon church and later farmed at Alexander, Klemme and Garner. To this union three children were born. Mrs. Rockow passed away in 1941. He was then married to Bertha Horstmann Kreitlow on December 8, 1943 and they lived in Dows. She died in 1957.
Surviving are his three children: Harold of Garner, Fred of Galt and Mrs. Wally (Mildred) Kreitlow of Kanawha. He is also survived by three stepsons: Melvin Kreitlow of Meservey, Lauren Kreitlow of Galt and Marion Kreitlow of Marshalltown; 11 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Eric of Alamena, Wisconsin and Frank of Williams; three sisters: Mrs. Clara Inman of Iowa Falls, Mrs. Martha Buntenbach and Mrs. Tillie Berhrens, both of Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Mr. Rockow was an active member of the Dows Senior Citizens.
