Funeral services for Edward Rockow, 85, of Dows were held Sunday afternoon, April 15, 1973 from the Vernon Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Vernon Township Cemetery. Willim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rockow died Thursday evening at the Memorial Hospital in Mason City where he had been a patient since March 18th after suffering a coronary.

Born on a farm in Hamilton County on August 26, 1887 he was the son of Julius and Otellia Collies Rockow and grew to manhood in that area. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Heiden on March 27, 1917 at the Vernon Lutheran Church and they farmed in Vernon township until they retired to Dows in 1964.

He is survived by his wife and six sons: Lyle of Mason City; Harley and Irwin, both of Garner; Maynard of Alden; Edward J. of Dows and Virgil of Webster City. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters: Will Rockow of Dows; Frank Rockow of Williams; Erick Rockow of Almena, Wisconsin; Paul Rockow of Dumont; Mrs. B.A. (Clara) Rankin of Iowa Falls; Mrs. Ed (Martha) Buntenbach and Mrs. Myron (Tillie) Behrens, both of Garner.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

Mr. Rockow was baptized and confirmed at Vernon Lutheran Church.
